May Favourites 2017

Hey everyone, I hope you're well!
Since we've had so much nice weather here in the UK, I haven't really worn makeup that often but today I have a list of things I've been loving this month!

BEAUTY

The first product I've been loving this month is a super shock shadow from Colourpop in the shade Nillionaire. It's a gorgeous bronze shade with pink and gold glitter undertones. I have a few Colourpop shadows and the formula is like nothing I've ever used before! They're not quite a cream, but not a powder either and it took me a while to get used to. This shadow is perfect all over the lid for a warm brown smoky eye. I will definitely be buying more of these shadows, and if you haven't already you need to get some!

Up next is a product that barely looks used, but trust me a little goes a long way! This one of the newish Strobe highlighters from Makeup Revolution in the shade Flash. I couldn't get the shade to pick up right in natural light but it's a gorgeous icy white highlighter with an iridescent finish. It looks absolutely gorgeous on, and suits paler skin tones perfectly. I've been wearing this every time I do my makeup, and you hardly need any on your brush to get a blinding highlight!

Another product I've loved this month by Makeup Revolution is their take on the matte lip kit in the shade Echelon. It's a beautiful cool toned brown nude, although the brown tones didn't really pick up in the photo. This is the perfect nude for lighter skin tones, and is great for everyday. The lip liner is super creamy, and glides on like a dream! The liquid lipstick doesn't dry out your lips and applies really nicely without going patchy.

The last beauty item I've absolutely loved this month is a fragrance mist from Victoria's Secret. I saw these in my local Superdrug when I was shopping for makeup, and noticed they were on offer at 2 for  £16. I had a browse through the different scents and opted for Pure Seduction which has a lovely mix of red plum and freesia. I'm not usually a fan of really fruity scents but with this being a mist, it's not as strong as others and smells lovely but lasts a long time.

TV & FILM

Since the new season started, I have been hooked on Pretty Little Liars! I was a little late to the party, and only started watching it last year but I've binge watched it to high heaven and I've finally caught up. It took me a while to get into, because it just seemed a bit boring but it's got so good lately! This is the final ever season too so I know I'll probably cry at the last episode!

I haven't watched any new movies lately, but I've watched The Little Mermaid nearly everyday for the few weeks. I'd never watched it as a child and felt like I'd been missing out on something and now I think I'm obsessed with it haha! When I haven't been watching it, I've had the soundtrack on repeat and I'm pretty sure I know all the lyrics off by heart now!

MUSIC

Katy Perry ft Nicki Minaj - Swish Swish
Liam Payne - Strip That Down
Ariana Grande ft Future - Everyday
Harry Styles - Kiwi
Shawn Mendez - There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back
DJ Khaled ft Justin Bieber - I'm The One

So that's everything I've loved this month, I hope you enjoyed reading! If you want to see what other music I've been listening to, you can check out my Spotify here where I've made monthly playlists and a few other fun ones!

April Favourites 2017

Hey everyone, I hope you're all well!
Today I have my monthly favourites for April, I can't believe we're into May already!!
I have to be honest, I didn't really try a lot of new things this month but the ones I did try, I fell in love with!

BEAUTY

Primark PS Bronze Shadow & Shade Palette || After seeing so much hype over Primark's makeup range I wanted to check it out for myself so I went on a mini shopping spree and picked up a few things including this gorgeous eyeshadow palette. If you know me, you'll know I probably have way too many palettes already but I couldn't not buy this at only £4! The pigmentation isn't the best but you can't expect the world for a few quid! I love the shades in this palette, so much so that it's all I've been wearing this month!

Makeup Revolution Ultra Sculpt & Contour Kit || Something else I've used nearly everyday this month is this contour kit which includes a matte bronzer, a pink toned highlighter and a pink/gold shimmer blush. As you can see I've used the bronzer to death, and I think I'm probably going to hit pan soon! The highlighter isn't as 'blinding' as I'd have liked but it's a lovely shade and so is the blusher! This is perfect for travelling to save space, and it has everything you need including a small mirror all in one little palette!

Jeffree Star Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick in Daddy || I recently had a little shop on Beauty Bay and managed to pick up two thirds of the JSC x MannyMUA collab, the Daddy liquid lipstick and the Eclipse Skin Frost. Since my order got delivered I have been wearing Daddy non-stop! It's quite a cool toned nude on my skin and is great for everyday makeup looks. The formula is amazing, making application flawless and it lasts all day and night! If you want to see what else I picked up from Beauty Bay, click here.

TV & FILM

13 Reasons Why || Every man and his dog has watched this Netflix Original series, and while I really like the idea behind it (suicide awareness) I feel like there was a few flaws. I did really enjoy the series, and am patiently waiting for a second season to be announced. I'm thinking about writing a full post review of the series soon, so let me know if that's something you'd like to read!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 || I know this film only came out in cinemas a few days ago but I've been so excited for it since the release date was announced! I went to see this on Friday, thankfully with preordered tickets as it was rammed, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I find Chris Pratt hilarious, as well as Rocket and Drax. I need to get myself a Baby Groot though, he's so cute!! If you're a fan of superhero action films, I'd definitely recommend this, it's great!

MUSIC

Maroon 5 ft Future - Cold
Little Mix ft Machine Gun Kelly - No More Sad Songs
Zedd ft Alessia Cara - Stay
John Gibbons - P.Y.T (Pretty Young Thing)
Linkin Park ft Pusha T & Stormzy - Good Goodbye
Kendrick Lamar - Humble

That's everything I loved in April, I hope you enjoyed reading! Leave a comment telling me one of your favourite things from last month!

March Favourites 2017

Hey everyone, I hope you're well! Today I have my monthly favourites for March, a couple of which are old favourites that I've rediscovered!

BEAUTY

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream || I've had this lip cream for what feels like forever, I must have bought this nearly a year ago and I think it's practically ran out now! I go through phases of using this, and have fell back in love! It's in the shade London which is a gorgeous nude perfect for an everyday makeup look. It has a very creamy consistency and is non-drying so feels lovely on the lips. I wish I owned all the shades!!

Ciaté Nail Varnish || I actually received this nail varnish in a Glossybox, just before I started my reviews on here. It's in the shade Fade to Greige which I absolutely love! It's perfect for me as I can only wear neutral colours to work, and I've noticed looks very different on other skin tones! I believe Ciaté varnishes are quite pricey, but they're definitely worth the money in my opinion!

Freedom Eyebrow Pomade || I was so nervous to buy this product, not really knowing how to use it but I'm so glad I did! It's been my go-to brow product for just over a month now, and I don't think I'd ever go back to my trusty Collection Brow Kit! I have the shade Chocolate which I must admit is a little bit warm for me, but I make it work!

Coconut Lane Phone Case || I know this isn't exactly a beauty product but it certainly is a beauty to look at! I picked this phone case up a few weeks ago, and love it! I love the blush pink colour with the contrast of marble and although it doesn't feel very sturdy, it's served me well so far! Use my code JEEZLOUISE20 to get 20% off at coconut-lane.com

TV & FILM

How I Met Your Mother || I've always loved this show, and will always watch it if it's on TV. But when I noticed it was on Netflix, I just had to start from Season 1 Episode 1! I've probably watched it everyday this month, even if it's only one episode. It's slowly become one of my favourite shows ever, and always great if you need a good laugh!

Beauty and the Beast || I can't even explain how excited I was when it was announced that there would be a live-action Beauty and the Beast, it's one of my favourite animated Disney movies! I went to see it for my birthday last week, and enjoyed it so much! It's just so magical!! The casting was perfect, and Josh Gad played Le Fou so well. I couldn't help but sing along to all the songs, and left the cinema feeling so good! If you haven't seen it already, go now!!

MUSIC

Two Door Cinema Club - Bad Decisions
Kygo & Selena Gomez - It Ain't Me
Pitbull & Flo Rida - Greenlight
TNGHT - Higher Ground
Netsky - Rio
Jonas Blue & Raye - By Your Side

So that's everything I've loved in March, what's something you loved?

My Favourite Apps

As someone who is constantly on their phone, from the minute I wake up to the minute I go to bed, I'm always looking for new and exciting apps to try out. Today I have a list of my favourite apps which I'm currently obsessed with.

Twitter
Where do I even start with Twitter? I've found it's the best app for meeting new friends and also where most of my blog traffic comes from. I've made loads of blogger friends by taking part in Twitter chats, which are such a fun way to pass the time! In my opinion, it's the easiest to use out of all the social media apps around these days and is usually the first one I check in the morning.

Instagram
I'm usually more of a Instagram stalker than a poster, which definitely needs to change! It's perfect for finding inspiration for makeup look and blog post ideas. I've found it's quite hard to gain followers though because of the new algorithm and I hate that my feed isn't in chronological order anymore. It's great for sharing little snippets of your life and to promote your blog and it's posts which I think is great!

Snapchat
Another app I hardly ever post on is Snapchat. I love using this to keep up to date with all the latest beauty events and celebrity activity. I'm constantly watching Khloe Kardashian working out, which is very sad I know. I love using Snapchat to take my selfies because it has so many cute filters, and sometimes I'll just have a look at the new filters and not even keep any of the photos!

Timehop
I have such a love/hate relationship with Timehop. It's great for reminding me of fun times I've had with friends but it's bittersweet cause I'm no longer friends with some people which is a shame. It also tells me how embarrassing I was on Twitter like 5 years ago, which I'd rather not be reminded of.

Buffer
This is the best app I've found for schooling posts on social media. I usually just use it for Twitter but it can be used for Instagram and Facebook too. You can add photos to posts, as well as tagging accounts and using hashtags. There's also the option to upgrade to a business account which gives you unlimited daily posts but I just use the free version.

Bloglovin
Bloglovin is a great app for keeping up to date with blogs. I usually use it on my iPad because it has a bigger screen, but it's the best way to read everything in one place. Apparently now it has a feature that lets you post directly to their site so I might have to try that out soon and see what it's like. I find it so much easier to use because it has everyone's blog on it, which saves so much time!

Spotify
OMG I love Spotify. I spend most of my time creating monthly playlists of my favourite songs and will probably have something for every mood. I pay for Spotify Premium which means no stupid ads after 3 songs, and at £9.99 a month, I don't think it's too bad. It's great for finding new music or even for jamming out to a bit of Backstreet Boys (cause who doesn't love a good 90's boyband) I'll usually listen to Spotify when I'm writing blog posts and while I'm working out.

Hooked
Hooked is an app I only downloaded recently, which I discovered through Facebook. It's a story app but is shown through text messages which I've never seen done before! It has every topic you could think of, mystery stories are my fave. It's great if you want something to read on the go, and it gets updated everyday with new stories. I guess you could say I'm hooked! *eye roll*

That's all my favourite apps, what are some of yours?

Blogmas Day 9 | Top 5 Christmas Songs

It's day 9 of Blogmas! Today I'm talking you through my top 5 fave Christmas songs. These are in no particular order, just my absolute favourites that get me in the Christmas spirit.

Band Aid // Do They Know It's Christmas - This song has such a lovely meaning behind it, with it being a charity song organised by Bob Geldof to raise awareness of the famine in third world countries. I'm not that much of a fan of the newer versions, but the original is just amazing! So many great artists feature on the song, and it really makes you think about the bigger picture.

Justin Bieber // Mistletoe - Okay I'll admit this is a definite guilty pleasure and I'm probably a secret Belieber, but this song is sooo good! I've always been a fan of JB, and I was over the moon when he released a Christmas album. This song is great for any Christmas party, because it's more of a modern song, I'm sure everyone secretly loves it.

Wham! // Last Christmas - This is probably on everyone's Christmas party playlist, it's one of the most played songs at this time of year and one of my favourites! I wouldn't consider myself a fan of the band, but I do quite like George Michael. This song reminds us of old loves and new flames, and makes me think of sharing Christmas with the ones I love most.

Idina Menzel & Michael Buble // Baby, It's Cold Outside - Michael Buble is known for coming out of his cave when December arrives, and he usually releases some absolute bangers! His rendition of Baby, It's Cold Outside with Idina Menzel (Elsa from Frozen) is my fave. I quite like the Tom Jones version, but this one is miles better purely for Michael Buble. The music video is also the CUTEST thing I've ever seen so if you haven't watched it, go check it out!

Mariah Carey // All I Want For Christmas Is You - The last song on my list is a classic from the diva queen herself. As soon as I hear this, I'm bursting into song trying (and failing) to hit all the high notes. I sometimes forget that this song is as old as me (22!) because it gets played to death at Christmas time. I always get straight into the festive spirit whenever I hear this and it will always be one of my all time favourites!

That's my top 5 Christmas songs, what are some of your favourites?

Blogmas Day 4 | Top 5 Christmas Movies

Welcome to Blogmas day 4!
If there's one thing I love more than anything about the festive season, it's curling up on the sofa in my pj's with a warm hot chocolate watching Christmas films! So today I thought I'd share with you my top 5 favourite Christmas movies!

Home Alone - Although I'm not a big fan of the sequels, the original Home Alone is hands down one of the best Christmas films. It's one I can watch over and over again and I still love it.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas - The film is definitely my favourite EVER! I probably watch it at least 10 times in the run up to Christmas. Jim Carrey is one of my fave actors and his performance as the Grinch is, in my opinion, one of his best!

Polar Express - I've only seen this film a few times, but I was completely enthralled in it! So much so that I didn't realise it was animated until halfway through! I can't wait to watch it again!

Elf - OMG where do I even start with this film?! Will Ferrell is a comedy genius and this film is one of the best Christmas films! I feel like I could compete with Buddy over my excitement for Christmas and meeting Santa (I know he's not real)

Miracle on 34th Street - This film is soo good! It has everything from laughter to love to SNOW. It's a Christmas classic and seeing Richard Attenborough play Santa really gets you excited for Christmas!

So that's my top 5 Christmas movies. What are your favourites?

Blogmas Day 2 | November Favourites 2016

Although this isn't very Christmassy, today's post is going to be about my November favourites. I haven't really bought myself anything new this month, which is a surprise because I'm forever buying things I don't need!

The first thing on my favourites this month has to be mince pies. They are, in my opinion, one of the best things about the festive season! As soon as I saw them on sale in shops, I bought some and have probably eaten far too many already! I know they're probably not the healthiest things to snack on but they are just SO good!

The next thing I've been loving this month is actually Twitter chats! I've took part in a couple of blogger chats this month, #tbhchat and #beechat, and both have helped me learn so much about blogging! I don't take part every time there's a chat on but I'd definitely check them out if I were you!

I've been listening to a lot of new music this month, and my favourite band You Me At Six have released a load of songs off their new album. I'm absolutely in love with their new song Give! They've grown so much as a band and I can't wait to see them live again next year!

Something I've recently got into is Pinterest, I could spend hours looking through makeup looks and different nail designs! I'm still trying to get the hang of it but if you'd like to follow me, feel free! My username is jeezlouisexo!

The last thing on my favourites list this month is the tv show Gotham. It's basically the story of Bruce Wayne before he became Batman, I'm currently halfway through season 3 which is airing in the US. Every episode keeps me on the edge of my seat and I'm constantly waiting impatiently for the next episode! I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who likes any of the Batman movies!

Okay so that's everything on my favourites list for the month of November, I hope you enjoyed! What have you been loving?

October Favourites 2016

Hey everyone! I know that this post is a little bit late but I've just had my new desk delivered and had the joys of trying to build it without having a meltdown.
*spoiler alert: I'm not insane (yet)*
Today's post is going to be my monthly favourites from October and it's definitely a mixture of stuff, not just beauty and makeup haha!

The first thing I practically have to put on my favourites list and that is my dog, Dexter! Ross and I adopted him from a local rescue and he's settled in so well! We were originally going to get a puppy but then we realised how nice it would be to give another dog a second chance at a forever home so we couldn't say no! My camera roll on my phone is already full of photos of him too!

Up next, I recently entered a giveaway on Twitter to win the Girls With Attitude Fairytale Brush Collection. I'm sure most bloggers and Youtubers have them, so I was so excited when I found out that I'd won them! They're absolutely stunning and are super soft, I'm not even sure if I'll use them because they're just too pretty to ruin!

Another beauty/makeup item I've been loving this month is the Ultra Contour Kit from Makeup Revolution. I bought the powder version as I'm not too keen on cream contouring just because I have quite oily skin. This contour kit is sooo good, it has 6 matte contour/highlight shades and then 2 shimmer highlighters which are all super pigmented! I think it was only around £8 too which is a steal for such a good product!

After briefly seeing them at Leeds Festival in August, I've been obsessed with Mowbeck's song Talkabout. I'm going to end up getting sick of it soon because I just have it on repeat all day!! If anyone else, like me, is into indie/rock music then I'd definitely recommend checking them out. I can't really compare them to any other band because they have such a different sound to anything I've heard before but they are definitely worth a listen!

The last thing I've been loving this month is the tv show Dexter. I'd never seen it before so when Ross suggested we start watching it, I was very excited. We've just finished Season 1 and I'm pretty sure we watched it all over 2 days. Oops! I know I'm probably really late to the party since it was first released in 2006 but I'm honestly hooked!

That's all for this month's favourites, I hope you enjoyed reading about them.
What have you been loving this month?
