Blogging Made Me Buy It

Something I've seen quite a lot recently is 'YouTube made me buy it' videos, so I thought I'd change it up a bit and do a 'Blogging made me buy it'. Now obviously no one made me buy any of these products, but the hype of them did. I've also included a couple of things that YouTube made me buy, because I watch quite a lot of beauty YouTubers.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
Every blogger and YouTuber has this concealer, and they all rave about it. I heard nothing but good things about it for months so obviously I had to have it. I have this concealer in 3 different shades, none of which match my skin correctly so I can't use it. When I did use it, I found that it was a little cakey when worn on it's own so be prepared to set it with a face powder! For £3.99 I don't think it's a bad product, but I haven't got on with it as well as I thought I would which is disappointing.

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation
I can't tell you how many YouTube videos I watched of beauty gurus telling me that this was the only foundation I needed in my life. I'm not sure if they were just paid to say it but either way, I believed them. Priced at £7.99, I thought this foundation was a decent price. It matched my skin well, but did leave me looking a bit oily at the end of the day. If you suffer with oily skin, I'd recommend the Matte & Poreless version of this foundation!

Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer
I have a love/hate relationship with this concealer. Sometimes it applies really nicely, then other times it looks a mess. I'm not sure if it's the way I'm applying it or if it's just a temperamental product. I definitely prefer this concealer to the Collection one, purely because there's more shade range. It's a bit more expensive than the Collection one at £7.99 but I think it's worth the extra money!

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder
Ah, my good old faithful Stay Matte! After realising how oily my skin actually gets during the day, I scoured the Internet high and low for reviews on face powders. The Rimmel Stay Matte has been a staple in my makeup routine ever since. It does exactly what it says on the tin, and is only £3.99! I don't think I have anything bad to say about this product, maybe that the packaging needs to change since I've probably smashed about 10 'cause the lid doesn't stay on!

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
This is a recent purchase of mine, after seeing literally everyone talk about it. I bought the waterproof one by accident and I'm not sure if that effects the actual mascara itself but I'm not sure if I like this! Yet again I had high expectations since I'd seen so many people rave about it, so I think that's maybe ruined it for me. I can't lie, it's a good mascara and gives me the length and curl I need. I just feel like it was over-hyped and there are other mascaras that are miles better!

Soap & Glory Supercat Liner
"How-To Winged Eyeliner" was a frequent YouTube search for me, since I epically fail every time. So many girls used this eyeliner and made it look so easy to get the perfect wing with their first attempt. It's super black and has quite a thick nib which is perfect for a big wing! It absolutely doesn't budge either which I really like! I lack the patience to learn how to achieve a winged liner everyday, which might be why I don't love this product but practise makes perfect and I know I'll get there eventually!

MAC Velvet Teddy Lipstick
I remember when I first tried to buy this lipstick and realised it was sold out, and had been for a number of weeks. I'm not quite sure where I first saw this lipstick, or what started the hype but I'm so glad I actually own it! It's the perfect nude and lasts all day. The only thing I've found is that it's a matte finish and is quite drying on the lips. I can obviously see past it's flaws after all the time I spent waiting for it to be back in stock though!

Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit
I'm really undecided on whether I like this product. The Lip Kits obviously only got the hype they did because they're from Kylie Jenner's brand, but I feel like for the price you don't get anything amazing. These are also a pain to get hold of! I love the formula of the lip pencil, and sometimes wear it alone. The liquid lipstick is nice but gets a bit drying after a while and needs retouching after a few hours. You definitely pay for the Kylie name with these, and I'm sure there are cheaper products that are practically the same!

ABH Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette
I cannot express my love for this palette, I wish it was acceptable for me to sit and stare at it. It's just so pretty! This was my first product from ABH and I'm so happy I bought it because I'm a sucker for warm shades. I probably wouldn't have bought this if it wasn't for literally everyone posting about it, there was just no escape! The price made me wince a little as it was a whopping £41 on Beauty Bay and although I don't think it's worth the price, it's a gorgeous palette!

There were a few other things I bought because of YouTube and blogging, but I've thrown them out 'cause I just really didn't like them! I hope you enjoyed reading, let me know what blogging or YouTube made you buy!

22 Things I've Learnt In 22 Years

Hey everyone, today I thought I'd do something a little bit more personal by delving into the many things I've learnt in my 22 years. I was going to save this post for my birthday next month but I thought it would be a good way to get to know me a little better!

1. It's not the end of the world if someone doesn't like you.

2. Going to bed early doesn't make you boring.

3. Success doesn't happen overnight.

4. Your mum is usually always right, even if you hate to admit it.

5. You shouldn't feel bad for not agreeing with someone.

6. It can be hard to see the truth when you're blinded by love.

7. Some people just want to see you fail.

8. Chocolate might be great but it'll give you awful break-outs.

9. Choosing education over social events doesn't mean you're a loser.

10. It's okay not to be okay.

11. Sleep as much as you want, you probably need it.

12. Find something you're passionate about and stick to it.

13. Don't ever settle for less than you deserve.

14. Don't dwell on the past, life's not about 'what ifs'.

15. Your weight doesn't define you.

16. You don't need alcohol to have a good time.

17. Surround yourself with people that bring out the best in you.

18. But don't worry about what other people think of you.

19. Trust your gut instinct, even if it breaks your heart.

20. Don't feel bad for removing toxic people from your life.

21. Take more time for yourself, even just 5 minutes.

22. Stop worrying so much!

I think it's really important to remember all the little things we've learnt in life. Especially since so many of get caught up in the media and online world that we can sometimes forget who we really are.
I hope you enjoyed reading, let me know in the comments a life lesson you learned!

AM/PM Tag

Hey everyone, I hope you're well! Today I have the AM/PM Tag, I was tagged by the lovely Tasha so thankyou! I really liked the look of this tag and didn't want to miss out so let's get straight into it!

AM

What's your morning beauty routine?

My morning beauty routine is super simple as I have to be up for work at about 3am and never give myself enough time for a proper pamper! I usually rinse my face with warm water and apply a moisturiser, I'm currently loving the Nivea Daily Essentials Day Cream!

What's for breakfast?

I don't eat first thing before work because it's way too early to be thinking about food, I just want to go back to bed! But when I get home from work, I'll either have a fruit smoothie or a bowl of Honey Shreddies (I know, I'm a child!)

Coffee or tea?

I don't really like either, but if I had to pick one it would have to be tea! I'd rather have a nice mug of hot chocolate!

How long does it take you to get out the door?

From actually crawling out of bed to leaving, I'd say it takes me about 20 minutes. I don't wear makeup to work so that probably knocks half an hour off haha!

What's your go-to makeup look on a fuss-free morning?

If I'm not at work, I'll usually just wear a light coverage foundation with a bit of powder on top. A few coats of mascara and a nude lipstick, most of the time it's Half 'n Half by MAC.

PM

What's your evening beauty routine?

I'll usually start by taking off any makeup I've been wearing that day using the Garnier Micellar Water which I love! I'll then use L'oreal Pure Clay Detox Mask every 2/3 days, rinse that off then apply Nuxe Night Moisturising Creme all over my face and I'm done!

Snack time! What's in the bowl?

I'm a nightmare for snacking on junk food at night! I'll usually have Cool Original flavour Doritos and a bar of Dairy Milk Oreo chocolate!

How do you wind down and prep for bed?

I love to have long hot bubble baths, they're one of my favourite things! Once I've had my bath, I'll clean my face, get into my pyjamas and curl up in bed. I'll usually check all my social media to see what everyone's been up to during the day and take part in a Twitter chat if there's one on!

Cosy up! What are you wearing to sleep?

I absolutely love fluffy pyjamas, I would live in them if I was allowed! My feet always get really cold at night so I wear Primark's fluffiest bed socks!

What are some things you have to do before hitting the hay?

I always check all my social media and see what I've missed. I'll reply to any comments I've received on my posts and then jot down any post ideas I get. I always like to check my diary for anything that I might have planned the next day too, just to be extra organised!

Morphe 35O Eyeshadow Palette Review

I'm sure by now, every man and his dog has got their hands on this palette. But today I have a review of the Morphe 35O eyeshadow palette.

I'll talk about the packaging itself first as I found it's has good and bad points. It is quite a big palette so there's no mirror which I'm not too fussed about. The packaging does feel a little bit flimsy and I'm scared that if I drop this palette, I might shatter the shadows inside. It's not very ideal for travelling since it's so big but I'm sure there are smaller palettes with a similar colour range.

I'd looked at so many Instagram photos of this palette so when I looked at the shades myself, I was surprised to see a few of the ones I thought were matte actually had a shimmer finish to them. This wasn't really a problem for me, but it might be something to think about if you prefer more matte shades.

The pigmentation is incredible, especially for such an affordable palette! I was so surprised to find that all the shades have a really good colour payoff. I did however notice that a few of the shimmer shades felt quite chunky, and had a lot of fallout. Some of that might be due to my poor swatches but when I applied it to my eyes, there was still some fallout.

I've only used this palette a handful of times but I'm absolutely in love with it! I'm a really big fan of warm tone eyeshadow looks so this is perfect for me and I can't believe I waited so long to get it!

I did purchase this direct from the Morphe website and was expecting to be waiting forever for it to arrive but it actually only took a week which I thought was really good since it was shipped from the USA. I did end up with a customs fee from FedEx after the palette had been delivered and I think that was around £19 which compared to the $35 shipping fee was nothing!

You can purchase this palette from Beauty Bay here, and Cult Beauty here. It's a very popular palette so is usually sold out but you can sign up to get updates for when it's restocked on either website!

Birchbox February 2017

Hey everyone, I hope you're well!
Today I have a unboxing and review of this month's Birchbox.

This month's theme is Express Yourself and is in collaboration with Papier, giving every subscriber a voucher for 25% off their products!

The first item I pulled out of the box is a conditioning spray by Beaver Professional. This is designed to detangle and nourish frizzy hair which is perfect for me cause my hair likes to do whatever it wants and is always fly-away. This costs £21* for the full size bottle which I think is a bit steep but if it works then you can't really complain!

Up next is this gorgeous makeup brush from Spectrum. I absolutely love their brushes and have received a couple from Birchbox before, although this marble design is to die for! This is a tapered eye contour brush so is perfect for blending and smudging. This only costs £5.99* which is an absolute bargain for a makeup brush in my opinion! I'll definitely have to check out the rest of the Marbelous range!

The next product I received is a dry shampoo by SHOW Beauty, who I've never heard of before. As far as I can tell, this just works like any other dry shampoo! It costs a whopping £30* for a bottle though so it's a bit of a jump from my usual spend of £3.99 for Batiste dry shampoo! I don't think I'll purchase the full size of this but I'll definitely try it out and see if it's worth the hefty price tag!

I received this eyeshadow trio from POP Beauty, another brand I've not heard of before. This is in the shade Champagne Mocha and looks perfect for everyday wear, creating a natural looking smokey eye. This retails at £15.50* which I think is a good price for 3 shadows and all 3 shades are shimmery and very pigmented! I love testing out new eyeshadows so I can't wait to have a play with this!

The last product I received is one I didn't even see at first cause it was underneath everything else! It's a sheet mask by KEEOME which is a Korean brand who have revolutionised skincare! This mask is designed to revitalise the skin with a blend of vitamins that brighten up tired skin. Perfect for those on the go all day! This usually costs £29* for 6 masks which is a pretty good deal if you ask me! I'm a sucker for a good sheet mask so I'll definitely be using this!

To buy all these products together it would usually cost over £100 so you can't really go wrong paying £12.95 for Birchbox! Overall, I'm super happy with this month's box and I can't wait to try out the Spectrum brush with the POP Beauty eyeshadow trio!

*All prices are for full size items on birchbox.co.uk/shop*

Valentine's Day Gift Guide

Hey everyone, I hope you're well!
Since Valentine's Day is fast approaching, I thought I'd give you a few ideas on what to buy your other half! There's nothing better that buying the special someone in your life a gift, just to let them know you appreciate everything they do for you.

FOR HER

Some people might think gift cards are a cop-out and are for the lazy buyer, but I think they're great! Especially if it's a fairly new relationship, or if your other half is super picky. So a gift card is the perfect present for a girl since she can then get anything she likes and you don't have to worry about having to return anything!

I'm pretty sure every girl loves a good soak in the bath, and now that Lush have released their Valentine's range there are no excuses! The Lover Lamp bath bomb, scented with vanilla and orange, has little red hearts that float in the bath. This is perfect for a nice soak after a night of celebrating your love for each other.

To really set the mood for a nice Lush bath, or for any other plans you might have *wink wink* a candle is a must. Girls love candles, they're so relaxing and also look really cute as home decor. Yankee Candle's scent Fresh Cut Roses is perfect for the Valentine's mood, but will also make any room smell nice.

Something I think every girl likes to receive on Valentine's Day is jewellery. Whether it be a dainty necklace or even just a charm for that bracelet she's had for years. This Delicate Heart ring from Pandora is adorable! It has the cutest little heart, and the ring itself is designed to be stacked with other Pandora rings.

FOR HIM

I've found that some guys are really hard to buy for, and it really annoys me when I hear "you don't have to buy me anything, it's okay" no, it definitely isn't. One thing I've found you can't go wrong with buying a guy is aftershave/cologne. I'm a little biased since One Million by Paco Rabanne is one of my favourite scents, but if you know what your man likes, it's a perfect gift idea!

If the man in your life has facial hair, then this beard kit from Asos is a great gift! It includes a beard oil, beard wax, scissors and a comb. It's perfect for those guys that need to sort their beard out but are too lazy to go to a barber, and it means they'll look extra hot when you're heading out to celebrate!

While girls like to accessorise with fine jewellery, guys prefer watches. This one from Sekonda is not only smart, but doesn't have a huge price tag. It would pair nicely with any suit/shirt and tie combo and your man will feel sophisticated while wearing it.

This one's for the gamer guys, an online subscription for their games console. I know this might be a bittersweet gift, cause while they're happy with what you bought them, they'll probably hide away for a few days to play online with their mates. Whatever keeps them happy, I suppose haha! Both PlayStation and Xbox offer different length subscriptions so there's something for everyone's budget!

I hope you enjoyed reading, and I hope you all have a nice Valentine's Day! How will you be celebrating?

Coconut Lane Review & Discount Code

Hey everyone, today I have a haul for you from Coconut Lane!

"Who are Coconut Lane?" You ask.. Well, Coconut Lane are a relatively new company selling all things classy, sassy and a bit bad-assy, as they like to say. They launched in October 2015 selling everything from iPhone and MacBook cases, to jewellery and wall art. I hadn't heard of them until I first started blogging and now they're everywhere! After having a little snoop on their website, I've picked out a few things and I'm going to review them for you today!

The first item I picked up is this gorgeous gold-plated arrow ring. I was umm-ing and ahh-ing about whether to get this in the rose gold or not, since you can never have enough rose gold but I opted for just normal gold. They also have it in silver so it's perfect for everyone! It's so cute and is adjustable so can be worn as a normal ring or as a midi ring with a few others. I'll probably be wearing this as a midi ring myself but obviously it's all down to personal preference!

To match the arrow ring, I also received the matching bracelet! This is also gold-plated and adjustable which is spot on for those with smaller wrists. I've had to adjust mine a little bit as it was a bit big when I took it out of the packaging but I think it looks super cute and even better with the matching ring!

Something I've seen a lot on my Twitter and Instagram feeds is bloggers with super inspiring wall art and prints, not realising that half of them were from Coconut Lane! I was so spoilt for choice when it came to wall art and it must be popular 'cause half of them were out of stock! I picked out this one that says "I'm a blogger, what's your superpower?" because not only is blogging something I really enjoy doing, but sometimes it can be a lot harder than people think! I'm going to hang this up above my desk to remind myself why I blog!

The last item I received is one that I couldn't miss out on, and it's this jumper that says "pizza is bae" because let's be real, pizza is bae. I chose the jumper in grey with black writing and I'm so happy with it! It's super soft and perfect to wear with leggings on a 'chill day' I can already tell I'm going to wear this to death!

Overall, I'm super happy with everything I received from Coconut Lane. The quality of everything is so good and you'd be a fool to miss out on their products!
I recently became a Coconut Queen which is their blogger/influencer programme where you receive a discount for yourself and a discount code for your readers/followers.

If you use the code jeezlouise20 at the checkout, you'll receive 20% off your order (not including postage) Click here to check out their amazing products!

January Favourites 2017

Hey everyone, I hope you're all well!

Today I'm going to be talking you through all my favourite things in January, and I'm still trying to figure out where the month went!

BEAUTY

Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation || This foundation is so good for people who have oily skin and since my face gets quite oily, I thought I'd try it out and I must say I was definitely surprised! It's quite a cheap foundation so I wasn't expecting much but it lasted all day on my face and kept the shininess at bay!

Morphe 35O Eyeshadow Palette || I've been dying to try this palette out for ages so when I got it for Christmas I was super excited. The colours are SO pigmented and it's really long-wearing. If you haven't got this palette, you're missing out!

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara || Okay so I might be behind the hype a little bit with this mascara but it is definitely one of the best I've ever used. I got blessed with short, straight lashes so this works wonders for me! It gives me so much volume and length, I feel like I'm wearing falsies!

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer || I can't even begin to describe my love for this primer! Not gonna lie, I feel a bit guilty if I don't use it because of how much it costs but I really do like it. It's great for oily skin as it is mattifying and you can actually feel it making your skin matte as you apply it. It keeps my foundation on all day and night so perfect for a night out!

TV & FILM

The Crown || I only recently started watching this series on Netflix and wasn't really sure if I'd like it but it's surprised me. It's a story about Queen Elizabeth II and while it doesn't sound that good, I really enjoy it. But I also absolutely loved Downton Abbey, so period dramas must be my new 'thing' haha!

Sing || Ross and I had a date night a couple of weeks ago and couldn't decide between Split or Sing, so we did Rock, Paper, Scissors and ended up watching Sing. It might be a kids film but it was SO good. Anyone that loves musicals has to watch it! It is made by the same people that did Minions, but thankfully there isn't any in this movie! (thank god)

MUSIC

Ed Sheeran - Castle On The Hill
Little Mix - Touch
The 1975 - Somebody Else
Jax Jones ft Raye - You Don't Know Me
Tom Zanetti - Darlin'
Dua Lipa - Be The One
You Me At Six - Take On The World

So that's everything I loved in January, hope you enjoyed reading! What did you love this month?

The Blogger Tag

Hey everyone! Today I'm back with another tag post, even though I didn't get tagged by anyone (sorry not sorry) I just thought this would be a good way for my readers to get to know me a little better! So without further ado, let's get into it!

How tall are you?
I think I'm about 5'5 or 5'6. I haven't measured myself in a long time so it's a bit of a rough guess.

Do you have a hidden talent?
I wish! I'm pretty boring to be honest haha. I can't even whistle!

What's your biggest blog related pet peeve?
Probably when people literally just copy and paste someone else's post and try to pass it off as their own. I've only come across a couple of people who've done this but it's so annoying!

What's your biggest non-related blog pet peeve?
People that walk so slow in front of you that they might as well just stand still. Also people that stand in front of you when you're trying to get past. I made the mistake of getting a job in a supermarket so I have to deal with this every single day. UGH.

What's your favourite song?
I'm really loving Little Mix's new song Touch at the minute!

What's your favourite social media website?
Definitely Twitter, I'm constantly on it! Instagram is a close second though.

What’s your favourite way to spend your time when you’re alone?
I love to get curled up on the sofa and watch a film or start a new series on Netflix.

Whats your favourite junk food?
Pizza. Or cheesy chips. Sometimes together, but then I feel really fat haha.

Do you have a pet or pet(s)? If so, what kind and what are their names?
Yes, I have a dog called Dexter. You can find out some more about him here.

What are your number one favourite non-fiction and fiction books?
My fave fiction book would probably have to be any of the Harry Potter books because who doesn't love Harry Potter?! And I don't think I have a fave non-fiction book, most of the ones I've read have just been rubbish celebrity biographies so yeah..

What’s your favourite beauty product or tool?
My favourite product is the Morphe 35O palette, the colours are to die for. My favourite tool is the Real Techniques Makeup Sponge, it applies my foundation flawlessly and I'd recommend it to anyone!

When were you last embarrassed? What happened?
I got embarrassed at work a couple of weeks ago by a friend who brought up my ex boyfriend and decided to make a few sarcastic comments and jokes. At the time, I wanted the ground to swallow me up but I can see the funny side to it all now.

If you could only drink one beverage (besides water) for the rest of your life what would it be?
I could happily drink Innocent fruit smoothies all day everyday!

What’s your favourite movie?
The Green Mile.

What was your favourite lesson at school?
I really enjoyed Science, and thankfully I was quite good at it.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?
I would love to live in Australia, it's such a beautiful country!

PC or Mac?
I've always grown up with PC's but I recently got a MacBook and I love it!

Last romantic gesture from a crush, date, boy/girlfriend, spouse?
(Or any kind gesture from a friend)
I wouldn't say it was very romantic but Ross came home from work the other day with some chocolate for me. That's about as romantic as we get haha.

Favourite celebrity?
I absolutely LOVE James Corden. I think he's hilarious and his Carpool Karaoke is one of my fave things ever!

What blogger do you secretly want to be best friends with?
I've made quite a few blogger friends so I don't think I could choose just one, I get on with them all so well!

Who is your biggest inspiration?
My biggest blogging inspiration is Zoella. I know loads of people were blogging before her but she changed the game completely for bloggers and YouTubers. She's so cute and I imagine is probably super nice!

What is your favourite blog to read?
I don't have a favourite at the minute but I'm always reading blogs!

What is your favourite high street shop?
Primark. I'm a sucker for a good bargain. Although I have to buy my jeans from Topshop since they're the only ones that fit me right which is a bit of a pain.

Are you in education or do you work?
I work part time at Sainsbury's. It's pretty boring, but it pays the bills.

One thing you are proud of?
I'm proud of the person I am, and I'm proud that I have a nice house and a happy little family with Ross and Dexter.

Top 5 Apps For Bloggers

Hey everyone! Today I'm going to be talking you through some of the apps I've been using that are perfect for bloggers.

Pinterest

This is sort of a new discovery for me, I'd usually use it for pinning stuff like fashion and beauty, but then I made a board specifically for blogging and it's gave me so much inspiration for my future posts and is perfect for anyone just starting out that isn't really sure on what they want to write about.

Twitter

This is hands down the best app for bloggers. It's usually where I get most of my traffic from and the only trick to Twitter is to stay active. Taking part in blogger chats is a great way to get noticed and I've met some of the nicest people on Twitter so it's also good for making new blogger friends!

Buffer

An app that I've only just discovered myself, Buffer is used for scheduling posts to your social media. For example, you could have a blog post scheduled for 5pm but you've made plans with friends. You can also schedule tweets to remind everyone on Twitter that your new post just went up! You can also check the analytics of posts and re-buffer things so you can always stay on top of your social media posts.

Instagram

I am completely obsessed with Instagram, but I definitely need to work on my posting game. I love checking up on friends and other bloggers to see what they're getting up to and when their next post might be up. It's a great way to promote your blog and other social media accounts, but what's also good is you can check the 'explore' page which is tailored to what you've recently liked and will show you more of that, so if you liked a photo of some blog inspo, you'll see more of that!

Notes

As much as I love writing things down in my notebook/diary, sometimes I don't have room in my handbag to be carrying them round with me. I've only recently started using Notes to jot down any blog post ideas I might have while I'm out and about, but it's perfect! It's just the bog standard notes app that comes with the iPhone but I find it's ideal for all those times when I need to jot something down but don't have a notebook with me. Plus, I've usually always got my phone in my hand anyway!

So that's my top 5 apps, I imagine there's probably a few good ones I've missed. Let me know in the comments what some of your faves are!
